Peyronie’s Disease occurs when fibrous scar tissue, called plaque, develops inside the penis. This can cause the penis to bend or curve during an erection and may also lead to pain, changes in penile shape or length, difficulty with erections, and challenges with sexual function.
At The Conrad Pearson Clinic, we offer a comprehensive Peyronie’s Disease program designed to provide men with access to a full range of treatment options in one place. Our board-certified urologists and men’s health specialists evaluate each patient individually, considering the degree and type of curvature, symptoms, erectile function, and personal treatment goals.
Treatment may include non-surgical therapies such as RestoreX® penile traction therapy and XIAFLEX® injections, as well as advanced surgical options and penile implants for men who also experience erectile dysfunction.
Because no two cases of Peyronie’s Disease are exactly alike, our goal is to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses both function and quality of life. From minimally invasive therapies to advanced surgical care, the Conrad Pearson Clinic provides the expertise and treatment options needed to help each patient find the approach that is right for them.
Dr. Michael Granieri leads the team and is the only fellowship-trained specialist in the greater Memphis area with advanced training in male reproductive health and reconstructive surgery, including advanced training for Peyronies’ disease.
He completed a fellowship in Male Reproductive Health and Reconstructive Surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center and received advanced training and certification in male infertility microsurgery at the Cornell University Institute for Reproductive Medicine.
Dr. Granieri provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for Peyronie’s Disease, including XIAFLEX® injections, penile traction therapy, and surgical correction when indicated. His approach is centered on understanding each patient’s symptoms, concerns, and goals to develop a personalized treatment plan.
Comprehensive Peyronie’s Disease Care in One Place
Peyronie’s Disease can vary significantly from one patient to another. The degree and location of curvature, plaque characteristics, changes in penile length, erectile function, pain, and impact on sexual activity can all influence which treatment is most appropriate.
At Conrad Pearson Clinic, patients have access to multiple treatment approaches within one comprehensive program, allowing our specialists to evaluate the condition and recommend care based on each patient’s individual needs.
Treatment options may include:
- XIAFLEX® injections
- RestoreX® penile traction therapy
- Physician-directed penile modeling
- Penile plication
- Plaque incision and grafting
- Penile implants for men with Peyronie’s Disease and erectile dysfunction
This comprehensive approach allows our team to move beyond a one-size-fits-all treatment strategy. Whether a patient may benefit from nonsurgical therapy, minimally invasive treatment, surgery, or a combination of approaches, our specialists can help determine the most appropriate path forward.
Nationally Recognized XIAFLEX® Treatment Center
Conrad Pearson Clinic is a high-volume XIAFLEX® treatment center, providing expert evaluation and treatment for men with Peyronie’s Disease from across the Memphis area, the Mid-South and surrounding areas. Our specialists have extensive experience treating Peyronie’s Disease and evaluating whether XIAFLEX may be an appropriate option based on each patient’s individual condition.
Our high volume of XIAFLEX treatments allows our team to bring extensive experience and expertise to the care of men seeking treatment for Peyronie’s Disease. Patients are referred to Conrad Pearson from throughout the Mid-South for specialized evaluation and treatment.
XIAFLEX® is an important part of our comprehensive Peyronie’s Disease program, but it is not the only treatment option available. When XIAFLEX is appropriate, our experienced specialists provide comprehensive care throughout the treatment process. We also offer expertise in other minimally invasive and surgical treatment options, allowing us to recommend an individualized treatment approach based on the severity of the condition, symptoms, and each patient’s goals.
XIAFLEX® is an FDA-approved nonsurgical treatment for appropriately selected adult men with Peyronie’s Disease. It is injected directly into the Peyronie’s plaque. The medication helps break down collagen within the scar tissue, which can help reduce penile curvature. XIAFLEX is approved for adult men with Peyronie’s Disease who have noticeable plaque and penile curvature of at least 30 degrees at the start of treatment.
How Does XIAFLEX® Treatment Work?
XIAFLEX treatment is performed through a series of treatment cycles and follow-up visits. Your urologist will carefully evaluate the Peyronie’s plaque and curvature and guide you through each stage of treatment.
Treatment may include:
- Evaluation of penile curvature and Peyronie’s plaque
- XIAFLEX injections directly into the plaque
- Follow-up visits to monitor progress
- Physician-directed penile modeling following treatment
- At-home stretching and straightening exercises as directed
- Ongoing evaluation of curvature and sexual function
A XIAFLEX treatment course typically involves four treatment cycles, with ongoing assessment of your progress throughout the course. Your urologist will determine the appropriate treatment plan based on your individual condition.
The goal of XIAFLEX treatment is to reduce penile curvature, plaque size, and improve sexual function without surgery when the treatment is appropriate.
Is XIAFLEX® Right for You?
XIAFLEX may be an option for adult men with Peyronie’s Disease who have:
- A noticeable lump of Peyronie’s plaque
- Penile curvature of at least 30 degrees
- Symptoms that affect sexual function or quality of life
Not every man with Peyronie’s Disease is a candidate for XIAFLEX injections. During your evaluation, your urologist will consider factors such as the location and characteristics of the plaque, degree of curvature, erectile function, symptoms, and individual treatment goals.
At Conrad Pearson Clinic, our comprehensive approach means XIAFLEX is considered as part of the full range of available treatment options rather than as a one-size-fits-all solution. Treatment can include penile stretching and physician-directed modeling following XIAFLEX injections, supplemented by a penile traction device such as RestoreX®. We offer RestoreX on-site and can incorporate the device into a patient’s treatment plan when appropriate. When used in combination with injections, penile traction therapy can help support and optimize treatment outcomes.
Advanced Peyronie’s Disease Treatment at Conrad Pearson Clinic
Peyronie’s disease affects every man differently. The amount of curvature, changes in penile length, erectile function, discomfort, and impact on sexual activity can all play a role in determining the right treatment. Our comprehensive Peyronie’s Disease program gives patients access to multiple treatment approaches, allowing our experienced team to develop a personalized treatment plan based on their individual condition and goals.
Treatment options may include:
- RestoreX® Penile Traction Therapy – This is a non-surgical treatment that can be used to help improve penile curvature and preserve or restore length. The device, available at Conrad Pearson, gently stretches the penis and applies controlled pressure in the opposite direction of the curve. Over time, this can help reshape the scar tissue responsible for Peyronie’s disease and improve curvature. RestoreX may be used by itself or along with other Peyronie’s disease treatments, depending on your individual condition.
- Penile Plication – For some men, surgery may provide the most effective way to straighten the penis. Penile plication uses carefully placed sutures to help correct the curvature. This approach may be a good option for men who have adequate penile length and certain types of curvature. Your physician will discuss whether plication is appropriate for you and what you can expect following treatment.
- Plaque Incision and Grafting – Men with more significant or complex curvature may benefit from plaque incision and grafting. During this procedure, the scar tissue causing the curvature is carefully released and a graft is placed to help straighten the penis. This approach may be considered when the degree or type of curvature makes other surgical treatments less appropriate.
- Penile Implant – Peyronie’s disease and erectile dysfunction (ED) can sometimes occur together. For men who have difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection, a penile implant may provide a solution for both concerns. A penile implant can help restore the ability to achieve a reliable erection while also allowing the surgeon to address penile curvature during the procedure.
You don’t have to determine which treatment is right for you on your own. Dr. Granieri will evaluate your curvature, symptoms, erectile function, and personal goals and explain the treatment options that may be most appropriate. Together, you can choose an approach designed to help improve function, confidence, and quality of life.
