Meet Dr. Chauhan
“I chose urology because, as a surgeon, I can immediately fix a problem, and I have the opportunity to develop lifelong relationships with patients.”
Dr. Ravi Chauhan grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and graduated Cum Laude from Rhodes College in Memphis with his Bachelor of Science in molecular biology. He completed medical school at The University of Tennessee College of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in Urology there. He joined the Conrad Pearson Clinic in 2005.
Dr. Chauhan became interested in medicine because he wanted to help people. His father was a doctor, and he was able to see first-hand the impact that he made on the lives of his patients. When it came to urology as a specialty, Dr. Chauhan liked the surgical aspect and the opportunity to provide life-saving care to his patients.
He also finds urology to be very gratifying when he has the opportunity to help a patient who is in a lot of pain, for example with a kidney stone, and he is able to eliminate the worst pain of their life. He also enjoys providing care for patients that can help improve their quality of life.
Dr. Chauhan’s philosophy for patient care is that he aims to treat his patients like he would his own family. He treats each patient with kindness and respect and strives to provide them with the kind of care that he would want for himself and his own family.
Dr. Chauhan is a leader in the treatment of advanced kidney and bladder cancer. He has several publications and presentations to his credit. He is certified by the American Board of Urology.
Dr. Chauhan enjoys the local culture and the charm of Memphis. He is married to Dr. Heather Chauhan, a local gynecologist, whom he met during his first year of medical school. They have two teenage children. Growing up, Dr. Chauhan had the opportunity to travel the world with his family and he continues to experience the excitement of travel with his own family. He also enjoys scuba diving when he has the opportunity.
