Dr. Thomas Shelton is a native of Memphis. He completed his undergraduate education at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind. He earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee, and also served his internship, residency in surgery and residency in urology at the University of Tennessee. He subsequently completed a year-long fellowship in urology research there.

Dr. Shelton has been in private practice in Memphis since 1986. He is a past president of the Memphis Urologic Society and a board member of the American Cancer Society. He has published numerous scientific articles on subjects of urological importance and is currently an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Urology at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Shelton is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

He has served as chief of staff at Methodist University Hospital and currently serves as chairman of the Department of Urology at Methodist. He has been named to Memphis Magazine's “Top Doctors” list for the last three years.
